About
Our vision
Academy Concerts exists to bring great music to neighborhoods — not in large concert halls, but in friendly and inviting spaces across Western Pennsylvania.
“I love bringing musicians and audiences together in venues that allow a powerful connection between performers and listeners – the sort of thing that is difficult to achieve in a big hall. Listeners should be able to see the musicians smile (or perspire) and experience being part of the event — not just witnessing it. Academy Concerts musicians thrive on that kind of interaction, too.”
- Warren Davidson, Artistic Director

Artistic Director
Dr. Warren Davidson, Artistic Director of Academy Concerts, has performed as soloist, orchestra member, and chamber musician all across the US and in Italy, Croatia, England, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. He taught at Slippery Rock University for 21 years, and for 28 years was concertmaster of the Westmoreland Symphony in Greensburg, PA.
Warren’s musical interests range beyond classical music, with a special emphasis on folk music of the South Slavic countries. He earned a B.A. cum laude in Philosophy and Psychology at Duquesne University before turning to full-time violin study; his principal violin teachers were Alan Grishman and Efim Boico. He completed an MM in violin at Duquesne, an MA in Theory and Composition at the University of Pittsburgh, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Chamber Music at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at West Virginia University, where he was granted a Swiger Fellowship.
In this volunteer role, Warren is living out his passion for connecting neighbors and musicians through live performances in intimate settings.
