Opus: Impact- a work of impact came into existence because of a distinct need for local musicians to be championed and empowered creatively and to find camaraderie and support. Through donors and sponsorships, the series is able to support up-and-coming musicians and staid pillars of the community alike. A give-what-you-can “ticket” lowers the barrier of entry for audience members, and those proceeds, or items, go to our charity partners.

Our purpose

Serving our community through the power of music; our concert series champions local musicians, and concert proceeds go to our partner charities.

About Opus: Impact

Opus: Impact concerts take place at Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church in Pittsburgh’s Northside neighborhood. All performances are open to the public, though seating is limited. Reserving your seat in advance is encouraged. Most concerts support a local charity, for which donations, both physical and monetary, are accepted. Please see the concert details to see how you can support our partner charities.

Artistic Director

Sydney Kaczorowski, Artistic Director of Opus: Impact and soprano discovers, researches, and performs little-known classical music, especially that of Slavic origin. While undoubtedly passionate about the great classics, she seeks to inspire her audiences with ethnically colorful repertoire.

Sydney will giving her concert debut with Academy Concerts this season with a program of Italian art songs and duets with tenor Adriel Baralt Jimenez. She was heard last season as Anne Trulove/The Rake’s Progress, Gilda/Rigoletto, the Angel/Lauda per la Nativita del Signore by Respighi, and the soprano soloist in Faure Requiem. Other recent highlights include Violetta/La traviata, and Slavic art song recitals at Chatham University, Music at Third, and the Summer Language Institute at University of Pittsburgh. Sydney made her European opera debut as Donna Elvira in Prague Summer Nights’ production of Don Giovanni at the historic Estates Theater. She was asked to step into this role while originally at the festival to cover Donna Anna. She also debuted a partial role as First Sprite/Rusalka in a concert of Czech opera scenes under the direction of Timothy Cheek at Divadlo Oskara Nedbala. Other role credits include Sandman/Dew Fairy/Hansel and Gretel, Frasquita/Carmen, and Erste Dame/Die Zauberflote, and she has performed as an oratorio soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Coronation Mass in C major by Mozart, and Mass in G minor by Schubert.

Sydney created Opus: Impact to combine two great loves- classical music and community-building- with the mission of bringing great music to those who might not typically or have never attended a chamber music concert, all while supporting the people of Pittsburgh.

Good music, good cause, good work.

Opus: Impact is able to offer equitable pay to its performers and donate concert proceeds to charity because of generous sponsorships and giving from the community. Without them, we wouldn't be able to offer the quality programming that we pride ourselves in.
